My name is Aaddya and I’m a high school senior. After watching the movie, I can honestly say that I’m impressed with the way you handled your pregnancy. The fact that you carried the baby to term and then gave it away is an extremely mature way to handle a teenage pregnancy.
However, I feel that being bored is in no way a justifiable reason to have sex, especially considering the fact that you are in high school. Giving up the baby for adoption was definitely the right choice for you, since you had support from your parents. Having parental support is extremely important when you are a pregnant teen, and since you had that support, it made your decision easier. A lot of teens go through pregnancy without the support of their parents which can lead to abortion. Although I am pro choice, I still believe that every baby has a chance to live, and if you have the resources to make that happen, you should. Being a teenage girl who comes from an extremely strict Hindu family, I know that I could never have the courage to handle this situation the way you did, but I can still say that I am proud of the decision you made to carry your baby to term.
Back to the topic of having sex because you were pregnant, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? How long would it have taken for you to walk into the drug store and buy a condom? You have proven to be a smart girl throughout the movie, and it’s appalling that you wouldn’t even try to practice safe sex. Millions of teens are getting pregnant every day, and some of them are not even properly educated on the topic of sex, but you were! You definitely should have taken precautions and should have at least used a condom. Being "in the moment" is no excuse for not using contraception. Safety should always be your first priority, especially when you are having sex.
Despite the fact that you had unprotected sex in high school, you did do a pretty charitable thing by giving Vanessa the greatest gift in the world, a baby. Although your desire of giving the baby to a family with a couple, I think that Vanessa has proven that she will be a great mother.
